Following Through

Greetings Programs!

I know I haven't posted anything since I first started this. I have this issue where I start something and then either forget about it or just don't follow through. Something something ADHD. Who knows.

Anyway — I'm going to do my best to keep up with it. Small anecdotes about work, school, and general randomness.

School

I'm currently taking a class on legal principles. I have no desire to do any sort of legal work, but it's been interesting so far. We've covered several cases and the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.

I hate the CFAA. It's so old and antiquated that it just hasn't kept up with the times. The last amendment to it was in 2008 — nearly two decades ago. It also doesn't help that I feel like most judges are too old to understand what any of it actually means. It really needs to be updated.

A law written before the modern internet is still the primary tool for prosecuting computer crime. That should bother more people than it does.

We're also going over a case study right now that pertains to the Fourth Amendment. It's wild to me that the same law can be interpreted differently by two different courts. There are so many issues with our technology laws. They really need to be redone.

GCFA

I recently took the GCFA class. I enjoyed it a lot, and it really put into perspective what I know versus what I don't. I'm going to study as much as I can and hope I can take and pass it.

It's interesting to me though that all of my schooling has been in forensics, and I'm not certain I'll be doing much of it any time soon. I really need to find a way to keep those skills sharp.

End of line.
